Prince Andrew Returns To Royal Duties After Epstein Scandal

Prince Andrew, the Duke of York, has returned to royal life after “stepping back” in the wake of the Jeffrey Epstein scandal in November.

The Duke of York and his family were recently invited to a private engagement with Liu Xiaoming, China’s ambassador to the U.K., and his wife.

Xiaoming posted a photo of the gathering with an explanation for the meeting.

“Her majesty The Queen sent an encouraging message to President Xi and Chinese people: At the critical time of fighting #coronavirus, I express my sincere sympathy for Chinese people, and pray for speedy control and victory over the virus. It was conveyed by Duke of York.”

In November 2019, Prince Andrew, 59, stepped back from Royal Duties and said he had asked the Queen for permission to withdraw for the “foreseeable future,” after he received backlash for his friendship with Epstein.

The duke previously stated, “I continue to unequivocally regret my ill-judged association with Jeffrey Epstein. His suicide has left many unanswered questions, particularly for his victims, and I deeply sympathise with everyone who has been affected and wants some form of closure. I can only hope that, in time, they will be able to rebuild their lives. ”
