After the death of Charlotte DeLaurentis, the girls are determined to find the murderer.
Emily (Shay Mitchell) confronts Mona about the situation. Mona admits she did call Charlotte DiLaurentis the night she was killed but denies having anything to do with the murder. She tells Emily that she was sitting in a diner waiting for Charlotte except she didn’t show.
Emily confides in Spencer (Troian Bellisario) and Aria (Lucy Hale) to question whether Mona is lying. Spencer tells the girls, “free-range Mona is more likely to lead us some place, especially if she thinks we believe her.”
Lucas returns to Rosewood to check out a local factory to buy and give the town a second chance but is doing a little security work for Hanna (Ashley Benson). Lucas buys the factory and makes an offer to have Hanna use it for her own uses, brilliantly implementing the hashtag #SugarDaddyLucas during airtime. He tells her to think and ask Jordan about it and then they’ll talk again.
As Alison (Sasha Pieterse) is headed out to her honeymoon with Elliott, she falls down a flight of stairs and ends up in the hospital with a concussion. Her mother comes and visits her as a ghost who tells her to rest and she’ll be happy. She tells Elliott that it was all a dream.
Hanna notices a threatening card on a bouquet of flowers in the hospital as she visits Alison. She opens the card to see cartoon faces of the rest of her friends with X’S crossing them off one by one.
Emily sees Mona talking with Sara’s driver in town. Emily and Spencer go undercover and start sleuthing. They spot him going in and out of stores and make up a game plan. They park their car just on to his back bumper as a distraction to see what paperwork he is holding which ends up being a Radley floor plan.
Spencer comes home to Caleb and Hanna waiting for her. Hanna admits to Spencer that she’s the one who killed Charlotte. She tells her the elaborate details and then turns to Caleb and says, “See, she believed it…”
Spencer is almost speechless and questions what just happened. Caleb informs her that Hanna knows how they can end this, by tricking the person into thinking Hanna murdered Charlotte.
Spencer doesn’t seem thrilled about how close Caleb and Hanna look together. Emily questions Spencer about why she’s letting them go along with this plan and Spencer responds, “What do you want me to do? Wedge myself in between them on the sofa?”
Hanna sends the text message to get their plan started, “Leave my friends alone. I killed Charlotte.”
The episode ends with a scene that shows a computer playing the Hastings for State Senate commercial. A phone beeps with Hanna’s text next to the computer and somehow her number is saved as a contact on this person’s phone.
