Despite President Obama’s insistence that his daughters would not be receiving another puppy as a result of his re-election, the First Family announced on Monday that they had adopted puppy Sunny, another Portuguese water dog.

Sunny, affectionately titled Bo’s little sister, is a one-year-old pup and has been added to the White House to give Bo more “dog interaction."

“Sunny is the perfect little sister for Bo – full of energy and very affectionate – and the First Family picked her name because it fit her cheerful personality,” the White House said in a statement.

To celebrate the new arrival, the Obamas are donating to the Washington Humane Society.

Michelle Obama broke the news Monday evening, posting an announcement on her official @FLOTUS twitter account.

The first Obama dog, Bo, was publicly celebrated as a gift to First Daughters Malia and Sasha after their father’s first Presidential campaign. He is now four years old and continues to be a staple at White House events.
