Carrie Underwood revealed over the weekend that she suffered three miscarriages over the last year.

The 35-year-old country music singer is expecting her second child with former NHL player Mike Fisher. Speaking on CBS Sunday Morning, Underwood spoke about many personal issues she faced in 2017 and this year, including her pregnancy and her facial injury.

“I kind of planned that 2017 was, you know, going to be the year that I work on new music, and I have a baby,” Underwood said. “We got pregnant early 2017, and it didn’t work out.”

She added she became pregnant again this spring, but ultimately miscarried.

“Got pregnant again, early 2018. Didn’t work out. So, at that point, it was just kind of like, ‘Okay, like, what’s the deal? What is all of this?’”

Underwood explained that all these personal struggles pushed her to keep releasing new songs. She said doing this felt “therapeutic.” The singer also praised her husband and their son, 3-year-old Isaiah.

“I have this amazing life,” said Underwood. “Like, really, what can I complain about? I can’t. I have an incredible husband, incredible friends, an incredible job, an incredible kid. Can I be mad? No. And I got mad.”

Underwood’s sixth studio album Cry Pretty was released on Friday. She is also the singer of NBC’s Sunday Night Football theme song “Game On,” which not all NFL fans have embraced.
