Post-Twilight, Kristen Stewart Follows New Direction On Screen
The career of Kristen Stewart, 22, is in transition. Fresh off the Twilight franchise, Stewart can now be seen in the film adaptation of Jack Kerouac’s On The Road, where she plays Marylou, the free-spirited girlfriend of Dean Moriarty (Garrett Hedlund). The film features numerous nude scenes with Stewart topless.
The role is a departure for Stewart who is known for being more reserved. “I was sort of nervous I would be playing the crazy girl, the girl who was wild,” Stewart told USA Today. “She offers the exuberance in the story, as well. I'm so not that person, so it was hard."
While moving into a new chapter of her career, Stewart also remains appreciative of the opportunities her role as Bella in Twilight. “I never felt stuck in that. Not at all," she said. "I had so many opportunities in the midst of that to do a million things. If it kept me from doing other things, I still wouldn't resent it. You start a project to finish it. I was eager to get back and finish the story."
Stewart's friends also opened up about Stewart's private side. “We're homebodies," revealed Twilight co-star Dakota Fanning. "She cooks for me. She loves to cook. I go to her house. Certainly there are times it's crazy, but we're also just friends. We go to Target to get wrapping paper. She has to do things like everyone else."
