Actress Anne Heche is being investigated for driving under the influence and a misdemeanor hit-and-run after crashing her car into a stranger’s house in Los Angeles.
She is still hospitalized with “severe burns,” but the LAPD is still opening an investigation into her condition during and before the crash. They confirmed that a warrant for a blood draw was obtained the day of the incident, and it will take a few weeks to return the results.
While the police have indicated that the actor appeared erratic at the time of the incident and may have been seen driving irregularly beforehand, no charges have been filed as of now. It is up to the Los Angeles City Attorney’s discretion as to whether charges will be filed once the evidence is presented in full.
Heather Duffy Boylston, Heche’s friend who hosts the Better Together podcast, released a statement confirming she is stable and requesting privacy. An episode of the podcast uploaded the day of the crash garnered interest in some listeners before being removed because Heche references drinking vodka, though it was likely recorded earlier in the week.
