Pokémon Go released a new update on Saturday — which removes the game’s tracking system completely, making it difficult for players to find Pokemon in their area.

New Pokémon Go Update Angers Players

Niantic Labs, the Pokémon Go developer, also began shutting down multiple third-party apps such as the popular Pokévision (which allowed players to track individual Pokémon using the game’s API data), because third-party sites violated the game’s terms of service.

Prior to the new update, Pokémon Go had a tracking tool in which Pokémon in the area were measured by “footsteps” — now there are no footsteps — and users are responding by requesting refunds for recent in-game purchases.

A thread on Reddit detailing how to request refunds on both the Apple App and Google Play stores has over 1,500 comments — and users have flooded the app’s rating on iTunes and Google Play to one star.

Pokémon Go users have also noticed that Niantic support email is unmonitored and attempts to reach out to Niantic’s Twitter has gone unanswered — though Pokévision confirmed that they have accepted Niantic’s new update.
