PlayStation TV will hit the shelves on Oct. 14 for $99.99 and Sony has announced plans to launch PS TV in Europe one month later.
The PlayStation TV can not only be used to save movies, TV shows and music, but it can also be used as a second PlayStation 4 with a Remote Play feature that allows users to resume saved games on different screens. PlayStation Now will allow users to stream PS, PS2 and PS3 games on PS TV. PS TV will also be compatible with PlayStation One, PSP and PlayStation Vita games.
Furthermore, PlayStation announced that 700 games will be made available for PlayStation TV on the same day of its release. PS TV will also have complete access to Sony Video Unlimited streaming, and reports suggest that deals will be made with Hulu and Netflix as well. However, Sony has not announced when TV streaming will begin, though the company reportedly has deals in place with 22 Viacom Inc. channels which should be available on PS TV.
Worms Revolution Extreme, Velocity Ultra and OlliOlli are free with purchase of the PlayStation TV, and gamers can also choose to splurge on the PS TV bundle for $139.99. The bundle includes one 8 GB memory card – PlayStation TV only has 1 GB of memory – one DualShock 3 controller and The Lego Movie Videogame.
