Pirates Of The Caribbean: On Stranger Tides, the latest installment in the wildly successful Pirates Of The Caribbean series had a very profitable opening weekend, grossing $90.1 million, the biggest opening this year, proving that Johnny Depp’s Jack Sparrow’s still got it. The movie knocked Thor out of the top spot it had held since it opened two weeks ago. The comedy Bridesmaids held on to its number two spot for the second week in a row with $21.1 million. The Chris Hemsworth, Anthony Hopkins and Natalie Portman starrer Thor took a major beating, falling to third place this week, making only $15.5 million. Fast Five continued to stay in the top five, grossing $10.6 million this weekend, while the animated comedy Rio, voiced by Jesse Eisenberg, Anne Hathaway and George Lopez rounded out the top five with $4.7 million. Priest, with Paul Bettany and Cam Gigandet continued its average run, the movie fell from the number four spot it held last week on its opening weekend to number six this week, bringing in only $4.6 million. The other two comedies about weddings, Jumping the Broom and Something Borrowed didn’t do as well, grossing only $3.7 million in seventh place and $3.4 million for eight place respectively. Water For Elephants dropped one spot to ninth place, making $2.2 million, and bringing up the rear was Tyler Perry’s Madea’s Big Happy Family, which brought in $1 million.
