Picabo Street Allegedly Pushed Father Down Stairs, Charged With Assault & Domestic Violence

Picabo Street, the Olympic gold-medalist skier, has been charged with assault and domestic violence following an alleged violent altercation with her father.

Picabo Street Charged

Street, 44, allegedly pushed her 75-year-old father Roland Street down two flights of stairs back in December at a Utah home, where all three of her children were present, reported the New York Daily News. Street was arrested and bailed out and is now facing three counts of misdemeanor domestic violence in the presence of a child, and one count of misdemeanor assault.

According to Roland, he had accidentally bumped his car into the house, sparking Picabo’s rage. He claims that once the two were both inside the house, Picabo grabbed his shoulder and neck area and pushed him down the two flights of stairs. Police found cuts on Roland’s elbow and neck. Roland also stated that he may have hit his head in his fall.

Picabo, who denies any wrongdoing, has stated that her father pulled her hair in the altercation, which she believes is a private family matter, according to her attorney Jason Richards. Picabo is apparently seeking an amicable resolution.

Picabo’s next hearing is scheduled for Feb. 16.

Picabo Street became a household name in the 90s after she won the silver medal in the downhill at the 1994 Olympics, became the first American woman to win the World Cup downhill season title in 1995, and then took home the gold medal at the 1998 Winter Olympics in the women’s super-G event. Picabo competed but didn’t medal in the 2002 Games, and most recently served as an analyst during the 2014 Winter Games.
