PHOTO: Jennifer Lawrence Wardrobe Malfunction At SAG Awards?

No, Jennifer Lawrence did not suffer a wardrobe malfunction on Sunday at the Screen Actors' Guild (SAG) Awards, contrary to popular belief.

When Lawrence, 22, took the stage to accept her award for Best Female Actor in a Film for her role in Silver Linings Playbook, also starring Bradley Cooper and Robert DeNiro, people were all atwitter about what was going on with her dress.

"I've never loved Jennifer Lawrence more than when she ripped her dress while walking to accept her award," tweeted one fan, while another bemoaned that she "ripped the hell out of her dress."

The confusion emanated from people's misguided assumption that the two-piece Christian Dior gown was a one-piece that ripped at the thighs when Lawrence hiked it up, which was not the case. Instead, the separate pieces of the layered black dress were actually connected by a sheer lining underneath the first layer. When Lawrence climbed the steps to the stage, she pulled the top part of the dress up at her hips to allow her better movement, revealing the lining beneath.

The entire misperceived malfunction lasted merely a split-second, and by the time Lawrence had arrived at the podium, everything fell right back into place.
