Philip Seymour Hoffman Reportedly Entered Rehab For Heroin Abuse
Philip Seymour Hoffman entered a drug detox facility after taking prescription pills escalated to the 45-year-old actor snorting heroin, reported TMZ.
Hoffman, who has admittedly battled drug issues in the past, had been clean for 23 years. However, about a year ago, the Oscar-winning actor fell off the wagon. What began as recreational prescription drug use turned to a short-lived habit of snorting the illegal narcotic.
The actor maintains that the slip into heroin usage lasted only about a week before he sought outside help. Taking proactive measures, Hoffman checked himself into an East Coast detox facility. He reportedly spent 10 days there before checking himself out last Friday.
Hoffman is currently on set filming a new movie in Europe, according to TMZ. He can next be seen in The Hunger Games: Catching Fire, which premieres in November.
