Phil Robertson, the outspoken patriarch of Duck Dynasty’s Robertson clan, is now sharing his thoughts on how best to handle ISIS.

Phil Robertson 'Convert Them Or Kill Them'

On Tuesday evening, Robertson appeared on Fox News to discuss the jihadi group with pundit Sean Hannity following the release of the second video in which a member of ISIS is shown beheading an American journalist. According to Robertson, if attempts to convert ISIS jihadists fail, it’s time to start killing them.

"In this case, you either have to convert them, which I think would be next to impossible. I'm not giving up on them, but I'm just saying either convert them or kill them," Robertson said on Hannity. "One or the other."

Robertson added, “We're going to have to deal with this group way more harshly than we have up to this point."

Hannity tried to launch a preemptory defense of Robertson, chiming in, "Because they're so harsh," adding, “I know there are going to be people always looking to jump on you and say 'convert them or kill them,' and they're going to say 'there goes Phil Robertson again.' I know the media. I know how they act."

Robertson, as confident as ever in his convictions, went on to emphasize his preference that the members of ISIS convert to Christianity – but that he’ll jump right into the gunfight if that fails. "I'd much rather have a Bible study with all of them and show them the error of their ways and point them to Jesus Christ," he said. "However, if it's a gunfight and a gunfight alone, if that's what they're looking for, me personally, I am prepared for either one."

Robert’s “covert them of kill them” mentality is starkly similar to that held by members of ISIS. During their push through the Middle East, the militant group has killed those who have not converted to Islam as they’ve taken over their towns.
