Jokes were flying at every one Monday during Comedy Central’s Roast of Rob Lowe.
Of the guests of honor, the most surprising was former Colts and Broncos quarterback and two-time Super Bowl Champion Peyton Manning. Back in 2012, Lowe erroneously announced Manning’s retirement after missing the season with a neck injury.
Obviously the 2016 Super Bowl Champion QB did not retire in 2012, but retired after his latest winning season. Thus Manning’s best joke of the night came about, getting Lowe back for his mistake four years ago, and also taking a jab at Patriots quarterback Tom Brady.
“If they ever stop casting you in sitcoms, just look on the bright side,” Manning told Lowe. “You tried to take the air out of my retirement announcement so fast, you could get a job as Tom Brady’s ball boy.”
Manning was of course referring to the 2015 so-called Deflategate scandal, in which Brady was accused of deflating footballs in the AFC Championship game so they would be easier for his receivers to catch. Brady will finally be accepting his suspension and will be benched for the first four games of this NFL season.
