In another turn of events for the fifth week of Dancing with the Stars, another favorite among the judges, Petra Nemcova and her professional partner Dmitry Chaplin, were sent packing by the unimpressed viewing audience. The rejection follows less than two weeks on the heels of the equally disappointing elimination from American Idol of fan favorite Pia Toscano. The sympathetic judges offered Nemcova and her partner a standing ovation.
"It's been a life-changing journey for me," said Nemcova, and of her partner, she offered that "he's been an incredible friend, like a big brother to me."
In another surprising turn of events, Kirstie Alley and Chris Jericho were sent back to safety after winding up in the bottom tier.
This week's episode was themed as a tribute to America, with Alley dancing to the song "American Woman" and musical guest Toby Keith performing "American Soldier" and "Should've Been a Cowboy."
Also advancing to the next round were Kendra Wilkinson, Louis Van Amstel, Ralph Macchio and Karina Smirnoff, as well as Romeo and Chelsie Hightower, who performed a successful foxtrot. –ZACHARY BLOCK
