Season eight of Game of Thrones has been a divisive season for many longtime viewers. The show, which has been acclaimed as the pinnacle of TV excellence, is starting to be questioned for the first time.

Fans have started a Change.org petition in order to remake GOT season eight with “competent writers.” The petition has already surpassed a million signatures and its closing in on its goal of 1.5 million signatures.

David Benioff and D.B. Weiss have proven themselves to be woefully incompetent writers when they have no source material (i.e. the books) to fall back on,” the petition reads. “This series deserves a final season that makes sense.”

The petition kicked off following the series’ fourth episode The Last of the Starks, which has a 58% score on the review aggregator Rotten Tomatoes.

The petition’s author, Dylan D., wrote in a long explanation stating that while he doesn’t expect HBO to remake season eight, the petition was started to communicate to HBO a message “of frustration and disappointment.”

“There is so much awful crap going on in the world, people like me need to escape into things like Star Wars and Game of Thrones,” Dylan wrote. “We fans invested a wealth of passion and time into this series. I’ve been watching religiously since Season 2, myself. I’ve read all the books and eagerly await the next two. I love this story, and I, like most of you, was crushed to see how the last season (and Season 7, let’s be real) has been handled.”

“In closing, I didn’t make this petition to be an entitled, whiny fan,” continued Dylan. “I made it because I was immensely disappointed and needed to vent. Do I have a solution? I’ve got plenty of ideas, but no, I’m not a Hollywood writer. But you don’t need to be a mechanic to know your car is broken.”

It’s not just fan who are the only ones disappointed. Actress Lena Headey‘s initial reactions to her character’s death was mixed.
