Peter Dinklage Slams Disney’s Live-Action ‘Snow White’ Remake

Game of Thrones’ Peter Dinklage is not a fan of Disney’s upcoming live-action remake of Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs.

The actor, who has achondroplasia, a bone disorder that leads to dwarfism, is not a fan of the classic fairytale due to its stereotype of short adults and accused Disney of being hypocritical when it comes to diversity.

“I was a little taken aback by [the fact] they were very proud to cast a Latina actress as Snow White, but you’re still telling the story of Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs,” Dinklage told Marc Maron’s WTF while promoting the new movie, Cyrano. “You’re progressive in one way but you’re still making that f—ing backward story of seven dwarves living in the cave. What the f— are you doing, man? Have I done nothing to advance the cause from my soapbox? I guess I’m not loud enough. They were so proud of that, and all love and respect to the actress and the people who thought they were doing the right thing but I’m just like, ‘What are you doing?’”

Despite Dinklage’s criticism of the original story, he would be “all in” for a Snow White remake with a “progressive spin.”

As of now, only a few details have been announced about the movie. It will star West Side Story‘s Rachel Zegler as Snow White and Wonder Woman‘s Gal Gadot as the Evil Queen. Marc Webb, known for directing The Amazing Spider-Man franchise, will also direct this version of Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs.

Production will begin this year. No word on a release date.

Cyrano has been adapted from the play, Cyrano de Bergerac. The film centers around a man, Cyrano de Bergerac, who is too self-conscious about his looks to attempt to win over Roxanne (Haley Bennett), so he instead helps Christian (Kelvin Harrison Jr.) steal her heart by writing her love letters under Christian’s name.

Cyrano releases in theaters on February 25.
