Pete Hegseth, Fox & Friends Co-Host, Hits Drummer Jeff Prosperie With An Ax

During last Sunday’s broadcast of Fox & Friends, co-host Pete Hegseth tossed an ax way too hard, missed the target and ended up hitting a marching band percussionist.

Jeff Prosperie, the drummer who was hit, is a member of West Point’s Hellcats marching band which was performing throughout the show in honor of Flag Day and the Army’s 240th anniversary. Apparently, the ax-throwing contest was teasing an upcoming segment on timber sports. The target that Hegseth was supposed to aim at was placed adjacent to the Hellcats marching band, and when he tossed the ax, it flew over the wooden board and hit Prosperie’s arm. The band continued on playing, but Prosperie is seen clutching on to his arm in pain in the segment aired on Fox.

Prosperie took to Facebook to comment on the incident. “I am thankful to God that the double sided blade only hit broadside on the outer elbow with significant impact and a couple of cuts as it fell along my wrist. It could have been much worse or fatal. Focusing on full physical and emotional recovery,” he wrote.

After being questioned by his friends and family in the comment section of his post, Prosperie elaborated more on what happened, revealing that he wasn’t even aware that there was an ax throwing competition. “My leadership told me they were told there would be no ax throwing,” he wrote on Facebook. “I think the anchor person went rogue and decided to throw it. He had only thrown it once before in practice for an upcoming segment, and they told him to throw it with more force.”

“When shooting or throwing, always know what is behind your target,” Prosperie added. “Basic safety rule. I’m feeling blessed on Father’s Day with my 5 children, alive, and with all limbs.” Hegseth has yet to comment on the incident.
