Pete Davidson had a probing conversation with Kevin Hart where the Saturday Night Live alum spoke about his difficult childhood and desires to be a parent today. The conversation was a preview of Davidson’s full interview on the Peacock series Hart to Hart.

As Davidson has mentioned often in his comedy, his father was a firefighter who died on 9/11 when he was still a child. He suffered from intense depression even from a young age but clarified that his family was “great the whole time, and they were super supportive of me trying stand-up.”

He joked that it’s “super corny” to admit it, but said, “it’s like my dream” for him to start a family. “It would be so fun [to] dress up the little dude,” Davidson also mentioned. He told Hart he is working to “develop and get better,” to be the best father he can be when the time comes.

Hart and Davidson also connected over how they both used comedy to deal with difficulties in their lives or around their loved ones. “If my childhood was fine I would probably be a construction worker in Staten Island and be the happiest guy ever, but like that weird shit that it does to you made me love comedy,” Davidson said insightfully.
