Rehab is expensive, but going vegan is free. For Lindsay Lohan, it even pays: PETA has offered to sponsor the troubled star if she publicly renounces meat and animal products.

Lohan, 24, who is enrolled in rehab until 2011, has reportedly been having trouble with the hefty bill, which would cost her around $53,000 dollars for the full three months she's scheduled to stay. PETA has offered her a sliding scale offer of assistance: $20,000 if she gives up animal products, another $10,000 if she stays vegan during the entire rehab stint and $10,000 for a following year of veganism. "A crucial part of recovery is showing charity to others. One way to do this is to be kind to animals, the Earth, and your body," the letter tells her.

"Lindsay Lohan is the most visible example of a real addict, and if she can conquer her addiction to meat and cheese, absolutely anyone can," PETA President Ingrid Newkirk told the Los Angeles Times. "If she does, she'll not only save animals but save her own health, and she'll be an example to the millions of people who watch her every step." –AMY LEE

Read the full letter below:

Dear Lindsay,

We understand that you've fallen on tough economic times, so we're writing to you with an offer that we sincerely hope you'll consider.

PETA will pay your bill for substance addiction treatment if you'll rid yourself of one more toxic substance: meat. A crucial part of recovery is showing charity to others. One way to do this is to be kind to animals, the Earth, and your body.

You'll never regret it.

When animals are crammed together on factory farms, disease spreads fast, so cows, chickens, and other animals are fed large amounts of antibiotics to make them grow quickly and keep them alive in filthy conditions that would otherwise kill them.

A clean, tasty vegan diet provides all the nutrients you need, minus contaminants, saturated fat, and cholesterol that are found in animal flesh, eggs, and dairy foods. Vegans also have stronger immune systems than meat-eaters.

Please let us know if you'd like to take us up on our offer.

LL has a history of being unable to keep any promise, agreement, or pledge she has ever made. Bet she does the same with any agreement made between PETA and LL. Not even a close call, in my opinion.

Conquer her addiction to meat and cheese???? I really want to know what drugs Ingrid Newkirk is addicted to to make such a comment.

People should be a LOT more sympathetic to Lohan. She made so much money and was STALKED non-stop by the trash called paparazzi that comes with said fame and money. Sadly, like many, she was mentally unable to handle it all. And also like so many others in her shoes she started hanging out with people who were also rich, famous and stalked by the same trash. The difference is many of the people she hung out with grew up basically from birth with TONS of fame, money and paparazzi(trash even back then) that they were used to it so it didn't really bother them. The same can often NOT be said for people who were not born dealing with these things.

But what should get everyone fuming is the outright lies peta spews, the information they leave out and the danger they put HUMANS in to further their misguided beliefs. Such as they never mention the billions of animals that are killed slowly and painfully each year spraying crops with all those oil based fertilisers and poisons, nor the vast increases in those slow painful deaths if everyone switched to a vegan diet. They also very intentionally leave out the fact that there are very very few places on this planet where humans could survive, healthy or otherwise living off the land without meat(and the real test of what people are SUPPOSED to eat is whether or not we can live healthily on the food the world provides WITHOUT farming and taking vitamin and mineral supplements to make up for what their diet lacks) Using this very basic and common sense definition of what humans are supposed to eat peta is one of the most harmful groups of idiots both to the environment and ESPECIALLY humans. they tell you to eat plants that provide nutrients that the body must work harder to transform into them nutrients it NEEDS and even then they are lacking many that are essential so you must take man made supplements(usually synthetic, which means made from the same oil gasoline is made from) and we REALLY wonder why we have so many health problems???

You want to be healthy? eat organic fruits, vegetables and MEAT in the right amounts, cut out all the processed junk foods AND GMO.
    IT REALLY IS THAT SIMPLE.
