According to Etty Lau Farrell, wife of Jane’s Addiction frontman Perry Farrell, the singer is seeking medical treatment after punching guitarist Dave Navarro during the band’s concert in Boston earlier this month.

On Saturday, Perry’s wife took to social media to thank fans for their outpouring of love and support for the musician before giving an update.

“We are equally astonished at Perry’s physical outburst as you are — but you must know that Perry must have been pushed to his absolute limit,” Etty wrote. “To that end, we apologize.”

“We are taking a bit of time to ourselves, to reflect and to heal,” she continued. “Perry already has appointments with a otolaryngologist and a neurologist. If you know and love Perry well, you know there’s no need for me to address the other false narratives. Our souls know.”

The update comes after band members had to restrain Farrell after he threw a punch at Navarro. Several days later, Perry apologized for his behavior, and just a few hours later, news broke that the back half of the band’s tour was going to be canceled.

Etty had previously written that her husband had been suffering from tinnitus and a sore throat. She mention that “he felt that the stage volume had been extremely loud and his voice was being drowned out by the band,” leading him to become increasingly frustrated.

Other Jane’s Addiction members shared their concerns for Perry’s health and safety.

Perry said in a statement, “Unfortunately, my breaking point resulted in inexcusable behavior, and I take full accountability for how I chose to handle the situation.”

In her Instagram post, Perry’s wife called the singer a “gentle soul” and said that he would return when he was ready.

“Make no mistake, when he’s ready, he will take another giant leap over obstacles to make us laugh and think while changing the world together,” she said.
