Netflix and Hulu customers face higher fees as Pennsylvania lawmakers introduce new tax on digital downloads and streams.
Pennsylvania Gov. Tom Wolf signed into effect on Monday a new revenue package that fills the hole in state’s budget. The state’s 6% sales tax will now also cover downloading and streaming services such as Netflix and Hulu.
The latest tax will also include music downloads, ringtones, games and apps. The only exemptions are newspaper and magazine subscriptions and college textbooks. This marks the beginning of taxes on digital products in the state
