Peaches Geldof, the TV host, socialite and former model, most likely died from a heroin overdose, according to a coroner’s report.
Geldof’s death at age 25 on April 7 shocked her family and friends, which includes her father, Irish musician Bob Geldof. Initial reports left investigators stumped as to her cause of death. There were no obvious signs of foul play, nor was there any drug paraphernalia found near her body or at the Kent home she shared with her husband, Thomas Cohen, and two sons.
Weeks after Geldof’s autopsy report came back inconclusive, a toxicology report revealed that she had taken heroin shortly before her death, leading investigators to believe that the drug contributed to her death, reported the BBC.
"Recent use of heroin and the levels identified were likely to have played a role in her death,” according to Detective Paul Fotheringham.
Geldof hadn’t been shy about discussing her drug use in her younger days, particularly in her teenage years. “Everything started to heal” following her son Astala’s birth in 2012 she told Elle magazine. "Even if it's an archaic idea, I want Astala to have a mummy and daddy together for ever.”
Geldof’s mother, TV personality Paula Yates, died of a heroin overdose in 2000 when Geldof was 11-years-old. The day before she died, Geldof posted a picture of herself with Yates from when she was a child in what would be her last tweet.
