Somewhere Between, ABC’s new mid-summer thriller, debuted last night to little fan-fare. While the show’s stars Paula Patton and Devon Sawa have made their rounds on the morning talk shows, Somewhere Between has been kept mostly under wraps.
The thriller/sci-fi, based on the Korean series God’s Gift: 14 Days, follows a San Francisco news producer named Laura Price (Patton) who mysteriously learns that her daughter will be murdered. In order to prevent it, Laura figures out a way to to travel back in time and employs the assistance of a wandering P.I., Nico Jackson (Sawa), to help put all the pieces together. No matter how many times she goes back in time, she can never seem to stop the murder or figure out who is behind it.
While very few critics have had an opportunity to review the series – ABC did not provide any episodes beforehand – the series’ stars have had only positive things to say about Somewhere Between.
“I was attracted to [executive producer] Stephen Tolkin’s script first. Once he drops the first bomb, the show moves like a bullet train,” Sawa told ET.
“Audiences can expect a thrill ride. A bucket of popcorn-type show that tries to do nothing more than keep you glued and sitting at the edge of your seat screaming for more.”
Modeled after some of the more recent successful TV shows, Somewhere Between runs ten episodes long, with each episode lasting for an hour.
Last night’s premiere took in a little over three million viewers, half as many as were tuned in to its ABC predecessor, The Bachelorette.
Last night’s premiere was an exclusive look at the series. Somewhere Between will air its second episode Tuesday at 10 p.m. EST on ABC, its usual time slot.
