Paul Walker Autopsy Report Confirms Cause Of Death, Video Shows Fire Started 60 Seconds After Crash

Paul Walker’s autopsy report was released on Wednesday by the Los Angeles country coroner’s office on Wednesday after it was put on a one-day security hold by investigators on Tuesday.

Paul Walker Autopsy Report

The coroner’s office says that Walker, 40, died as a result of the “combined effects of traumatic and thermal injuries.” The findings indicate that the Fast & Furious star’s death was due to both the impact of the Porsche Carrera GT crashing into the light pole and the fire that engulfed it. A video of the fatal accident on Saturday in Valencia, Calif., shows that the car burst into flames 60 seconds after it struck the pole.

Roger Rodas, who is confirmed to have been driving the one foreign street racing car, died from “multiple traumatic injuries,” according to the coroner’s report.

Both Walker and Rodas’ deaths have been ruled accidental, and as the result of a car striking a fixed object. Toxicology reports are pending and could take up to six to eight weeks to become public.

Speed A Factor In Paul Walker's Fatal Wreck

While speed is believed to be a major factor in the crash of the high-powered vehicle, investigators have yet to report how fast the Porsche was traveling on the wide business park road. There’s also speculation that a problem with the vehicle – a possible blown tire, according to engineer Jim Torp – caused Rodas to lose control. Investigators have denied reports of drag racing or doughnut spins gone awry.

'Fast & Furious 7' On Hold

At the time of his death, Walker was filming Fast & Furious 7 – the latest installment of the franchise, which made its debut back in 2001. Production on the feature has been temporarily shut down. "At this time we feel it is our responsibility to shut down production on Fast & Furious 7 for a period of time so we can assess all options available to move forward with the franchise," Universal Pictures said in a statement.

Walker is survived by his daughter Meadow Walker, his parents and has been fondly remembered by his “Fast Family,” including Vin Diesel, Michelle Rodriguez and Tyrese Gibson.
