Paul Simon 2016: Sting and Paul Simon perform live in concert
Paul Simon said farewell to touring on Saturday by holding one final concert in Queens, New York, very close to wear he grew up.
The 76-year-old folk rock singer — half of the former duo Simon & Garfunkel — performed his last show at Flushing Meadows Corona Park. Simon’s last song of the evening was his 1965 hit “The Sound of Silence.”
Simon was introduced Saturday by none other than New York City Mayor Bill DeBlasio, who referred to the singer as “one of the greatest New York City artists of all time.”
Simon performed multiple times at Central Park in Manhattan, including alone in 1991 and with Art Garfunkel in 1981.

The singer, who played baseball in high school, also showed a ball and a glove and started playing catch with the crowd. Among the other songs he performed was “Bridge Over Troubled Water” and several other hits.
Simon isn’t prepared to retire completely from performing just yet: he is simply ending his tour run, much like Elton John is doing.
