Paul McCartney brought a surprise guest on his final U.S. stop for his 2019 Freshen Up Tour.
During his performance at Dodger Stadium, the former Beatle’s band member noted, “We know what people want to hear, because when we play a Beatles song, all the cellphones come on and it looks like a galaxy of stars, and when we do a new song, it looks like a black hole. But we’re going to do the new ones anyway.”
This was his introduction to “Fuh You,” one of the three songs McCartney’s latest album Egypt Station.
An hour later, an appearance from another surviving Beatle, Ringo Starr, appeared on stage and performed with his former bandmate one more time.
The drummer paid homage to something McCartney said earlier in the night while introducing “Here Today,” which is a confession he’d written after John Lennon’s death in 1980 about the things he never said to Lennon while he was alive.
“You didn’t say ‘I love you man,’ to another guy in those days,” McCartney said.
50 CELEBRITIES WHO DIED IN 2018 – TRIBUTE SLIDESHOW
This concert was considered one of McCartney’s most energized performances in recent years.
The Beatles consisted of band members Lennon, McCartney, George Harrison and Starr. They were viewed as the most influential band of all time and led the “British Invasion” of the U.S. pop market and broke numerous sales records.
The two have previously worked on music together for Starr’s album. McCartney was featured on bass guitar.
McCartney and Starr are the only two living Beatles.
Lennon passed away in 1980 after getting shot by Mark David Chapman, who was a fan of Lennon.
Harrison died in 1999 when Michael Abram, a man who suffered from paranoid schizophrenia, broke into his home and attacked Harrison with a kitchen knife.
The remaining two Beatles continue to pursue music and always remembered their roots from their band days.
