Patrick Mahomes Praises Taylor Swift For Inspiring His Daughter To Watch Football

In a press conference leading up to the 2025 Super Bowl, Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes praised his buddy and fellow teammate Travis Kelce’s girlfriend, Taylor Swift, for her presence at the games.

Many football fans have been extremely triggered by Swift’s relationship with Kelce, as her appearances at the football games have caused a major influx in sports interest among teenage girls and screen time of the game frequently incorporates shots of Swift.

However, despite the notable criticism Swift has received from football fans, Mahomes has spoken up to reveal the friendship he has built with Swift.

On February 4, Mahomes told KMBC 9 News, “Taylor being at all the games has been awesome…it’s been awesome to showcase her bringing light to the sport that I love and getting little girls like my daughter into it and watching the game.”

He continued, “I just know Taylor better now, and I feel like I’ve built a great friendship with her…and my wife [Brittany Mahomes] and Taylor have built a friendship as well. It’s just cool to see how football can bring people together from every aspect of life.”

Swift and Kelce, who started dating in the summer of 2023, have been seen on a number of double dates with Mahomes and Brittany, and even attended the U.S. Open together in September.

Mahomes and Brittany share three children—Sterling, 3, Bronze, 2, and Golden, who was born on January 12. Mahomes previously reported that Swift has bonded with his eldest daughter, and they occasionally spending time in the kitchen together.

“[Taylor] has made different treats that have been around my house – muffins and doughnuts and stuff like that… Sterling’s a big baker as well, so they make stuff together sometimes.”

In a video shared to X on Feb. 5, Mahomes definitively answers a reporter’s question, would he rather have, “Patrick Mahomes’ scoring ability, Taylor Swift’s singing ability or Steph Curry’s shooting ability?”

Mahomes immediately responded, “Taylor Swift’s singing ability…it’s not even close…I mean, [athletic ability’s] awesome but, I mean, I’m not inspiring billions and millions of people.”
