Pastor Lorenzo Sewell, Who Spoke At Trump Inauguration, Slammed After Launching His ‘Embarrassing’ Cryptocurrency, ‘$Lorenzo’

Michigan Pastor Lorenzo Sewell was criticized on social media after he announced the launch of his new cryptocurrency, $Lorenzo.

Sewell announced his new cryptocurrency in a video posted on X after leading the benediction at Donald Trump‘s inauguration ceremony.

“I need you to do me a favor right now,” he told his followers. “I need you to go buy the official Lorenzo Sewell coin.”

“I want you to be able to see politics become manifest, not just in the way where we’re praying over political gatherings but where we’re seeing us become the hands and the feet of the Lord, Jesus Christ,” he added.

“Would you help me,” the Michigan pastor asked. “Would you help us in this endeavor? Would you go and purchase the coin in order for us to do what we need to do in the Ministry?”

Sewell told his followers “to do [him] a favor and go and get that coin in order for [them] to accomplish the vision that God has called [them] to do on the Earth.”

“I give God glory for what he has done, but we know that King’s dream can only be fulfilled if we acknowledge that people are living in a nightmare,” he declared, alluding to Martin Luther King Jr.

“The crypto community was kind enough to send me $Lorenzo, so I have permanently locked my tokens into a Liquidity Pool so that I will never sell on the community but rather just earn fees as our token continues to flourish,” he noted in the post’s caption. “Amazing day, all the Glory to God!”

The X users who replied to this post slammed the pastor for launching @Lorenzo.

“You seem like an embarrassing fake Christian trying to grift off people,” one user wrote.

“D—,” another said. “A true man of the lord, grifting like there is no tomorrow. I don’t remember which verse it was but something I read on Facebook about ‘stealing from the faithful is my greatest gift.'”

“This is embarrassing,” another user added. “Confirming my disbelief in organized religion and Christianity. You are a classic example of everything wrong with Christians. Grifting heathen. If there is a h–, you’ll be there bozo.”

Crypto tokens have proliferated recently, with many celebrities trying to cash in on their notoriety.

On Dec. 4, 2024, Hailey Welch, also known as the Hawk Tuah girl, launched her cryptocurrency, Hawk, but Dexscreener data showed that its value decreased by 91% within three hours.

According to Cointelegraph, Welch’s cryptocurrency was established on the Solana blockchain and initially had a market cap of $490 million.

Many meme coins increased in value after Trump won the election in 2024, with Fartcoin launching in late October 2024, hitting its peak at $836 million on Dec. 16, 2024.
