Paris Hilton, 29, and boyfriend Cy Waits were pulled over in Las Vegas Friday night when a police officer noticed marijuana smoke pouring from Waits’ Cadillac Escalade. Police found cocaine in Hilton’s purse and she was taken into custody on felony narcotics charges. Waits was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence of drugs and alcohol.
This is the third drug-related incident in two months for Hilton. Hilton returned to her home in Los Angeles on Saturday. She has yet to comment on the incident other than her twitter post, “I’m so thankful to all my fans for all the love and support you are giving me. Thank you all. Love you so much. Love Paris.”
Deputy Chief Jim Dixon told the Las Vegas Review that Hilton was treated “like everyone else,” the only difference being that she was not put in a cell with other inmates. “If you stick somebody in like her or somebody else who’s famous, all of a sudden it’s disruptive. We’re under obligation to make sure that everybody is kept safe.”
Waits’ attorney, Richard Schonfeld, is confident about the exoneration of the two. “As the case proceeds, a lot of facts are going to come to light that will ultimately lead to exoneration,” he said. –SAM VANDEVER
