The Nickelodeon hit sitcom, iCarly, will air a revival series in early 2021 after Paramount+ ordered new episodes of the Dan Schneider creation. The latest iteration will see the likes of Miranda Cosgrove, Jerry Trainor and Nathan Kress returning as the show’s stars.

Paramount+ ordered a new reboot iCarly series that will premiere next year and see the majority of the original cast return. The show will star Cosgrove in the leading role of Carly Shay while Trainor and Kress play her brother, Spencer Shay, and love interest, Freddie Benson, respectively. The series’ original plot revolved around the trio’s production of an internet comedy sketch series that gained them minor fame among their peers.

In her early youth, Cosgrove had starred in Schneider productions, with her most famous role playing the younger sister to Drake Bell and Josh Peck’s characters on Drake & Josh. Her role as Megan saw her as a trickster and constant source of torture for her older brothers, in stark contrast to her cooler, more approachable character as Carly.

The original series’ cancellation was primarily due to Cosgrove’s enrollment in college. Since then, she has starred in the Despicable Me series’ first three iterations as a voice actor.

While Jennette McCurdy and Noah Munck played fan-favorite roles, it is currently unknown if they will be making a return as well, with both stars already starring alongside Ariana Grande in the sequel series Sam & Cat. Schneider will, however, not be attached to the series.
