A paparazzo was hit by a car and killed Tuesday evening in Los Angeles while snapping photos of Justin Bieber’s white Ferrari after it had been pulled over by police onto Sepulveda Boulevard.
The paparazzo was likely trying to get a photo of Bieber; however, the car was being driven by one of Bieber's friends and the pop superstar, 18, was not in the car. The 29-year old photographer, whose name has yet to be released, got out of his car to take the photos and was hit while crossing back over the boulevard to his own car. Police said he did not look both ways when going across the street and the driver of the car that hit him, an SUV, was not believed to be at fault, according to CBS's Los Angeles affiliate.
Bieber has been aggressively followed while driving in the past by paparazzi, creating dangerous driving circumstances for both the singer and those following him.
Aside from stopping traffic, Bieber has also resorted to other non-verbal methods of communication with the paparazzi.
Despite these run-ins with paparazzi, Bieber still offered his condolences following the fatal incident. “While I was not present nor directly involved with this tragic accident, my thoughts and prayers are with the family of the victim," Bieber said in a statement. "Hopefully this tragedy will finally inspire meaningful legislation and whatever other necessary steps to protect the lives and safety of celebrities, police officers, innocent public bystanders, and the photographers themselves."
