Pamela Geller, conservative blogger and activist, has responded to reports that Usaamah Rahim, the Boston terror suspect who was shot by police, was reportedly planning to behead her.
Rahim, 26, was shot by police on Tuesday, May 2, after being approached by authorities in a joint terrorism task force. Rahim was under investigation for suspected terrorism and possible ties to ISIS and allegedly took out a knife when approached by authorities, engaging in a confrontation that ended in his death.
Now reports suggest that Rahim’s greater plan was to behead Pamela Geller, an act that would take more planning and require out of state travel. On the morning of June 2, Rahim allegedly had a change of heart. According to an FBI affidavit, recordings show that Rahim called his friend, David Wright, and told him, “I can’t wait that long, I can’t wait that long man.”
Instead of traveling out of state, Rahim said, “Yeah, I’m going to be on vacation right here in Massachusetts…I’m just going to ah go after them, those boys in blue. Cause, ah, it’s the easiest target and, ah, the most common is the easiest for me…”
Wright, 25, was arrested soon after Rahim’s death and faces charges of obstructing a federal investigation – recovered messages show that Wright encouraged Rahim to clear his computer and phone before attempting to “go after” the “boys in blue.”
New sources are reporting that Rahim’s out of state plan was a plot to behead Pamela Geller. Geller was recently in the news after organizing a Texas contest for the best Prophet Mohammed cartoon that was attacked by gunmen. She is a loud denouncer of Islamic faith. In fact, soon after Rahim was shot, and supposedly before Geller learned she had been his intended target, Geller wrote on her personal blog that she was not surprised by Rahim’s allegedly violent nature.
“Again, why aren’t the supposedly peaceful teachings of Islam that are supposedly taught at American mosques (which I question) not able to withstand the jihadis’ appeal? Because they don’t have a theological leg to stand on,” Geller wrote.
Geller later responded to the reports that she was the target of a terrorist plot on her website, again criticizing Islam. “The mosques and the imams behind the jihad attacks are never addressed by the media or the Obama administration. And that’s where these terrible ideas are taught, advanced and promoted. There have been over 26,000 jihadi attacks since 9/11, each one with the imprimatur of a Muslim cleric,” she wrote.
In an interview with CNN, Geller revealed that she has been placed under “24 hour guard.”
“They’re coming after me for violating the sharia, for violating the blasphemy laws. And they mean to come after everyone that doesn’t abide by, voluntarily, the blasphemy laws under Islamic law,” Geller said.
“It’s interesting, in Muslim countries under the sharia, there is a death penalty for blaspheming Mohammed. In the West, you are not assassinated, but your character is assassinated. You are defamed, libeled and ridiculed if you dare criticize Islam. That is where we are right now,” Geller said.
When pressed on her views, Geller accused CNN reporter Chris Cuomo of “submitting to Islamic law” by criticizing her actions as a provocateur, adding, “they’re going to come for you, too.”
