Rumors have been circulating that former Baywatch bombshell Pamela Anderson and WikiLeaks founder/international fugitive Julian Assange are dating. Those rumors, it turns out, are false (Anderson’s current boyfriend, in fact, is the 18-years-younger French soccer star Adil Rami), but as a recent Hollywood Reporter profile of Anderson revealed, the two are nevertheless quite close.
This odd couple pairing was introduced by their mutual acquaintance, British fashion designer Vivienne Westwood, and it appears that they have grown to be quite the confidantes.
“We talk about everything,” Anderson explained about her and Assange. “We talk about the Bible, we talk about what’s happening with my kids, what’s happening with his family. It’s not just about politics, even though I do take a lot of notes and it’s so overwhelming, the information he gives me.” She has also delivered him vegan food at the Ecuadorean embassy in London, where he is holed up to avoid extradition to the U.S. to face espionage charges.

Anderson’s attraction to Assange can partly be explained by her skepticism of traditional media outlets, and indeed she believes that WikiLeaks is the only trustworthy news source out there. In her words, “There are people in the world that don’t question authority. They just think, ‘Oh, somebody smarter than me has figured it out, and I’m gonna go on with my day and I don’t have any feeling about it because I’m too busy.’ I think that’s dangerous.”
Perhaps even more controversial are Anderson’s thoughts about Harvey Weinstein, as she recently told Megyn Kelly that the mogul’s victims should have “known what they were getting into.” She doubled down with THR, saying, “You need to have that Spidey sense or whatever it is that this is not right. When someone answers the door in a bathrobe, don’t go in that room. Or if you go in the room, get that role.”

While Anderson’s remarks could be construed as empowering (though you would have to really strain your interpretation), she should know that many of Weinstein’s victims were aware of what was happening, but were too paralyzed by fear to fully escape the situation.
In more exciting (and hopefully less-controversial) news, Anderson is still acting, and could very soon be collaborating with directors like the Safdie Brothers (who helmed last year’s Robert Pattinson-starring indie hit, Good Time) and the Teutonic legend himself, Werner Herzog.
