Pablo Escobar’s Brother, Roberto Escobar, Wants A Cut Of Netflix Series ‘Narcos’

Roberto Escobar penned a letter to Netflix execs, that was released on Wednesday — asking the production team behind new hit drama Narcos to cut him in on the show’s profits.

Roberto Escobar Wants A Piece Of ‘Narcos’ Netflix Profits

Narcos stars Wagner Moura as the renowned Colombian drug lord Pablo Escobar. Escobar’s drug cartel allegedly supplied about 80 percent of the cocaine smuggled to the United States.

Production on the second season of the series is in progress, but Roberto, the late drug lord’s brother, claims he had issues with the show’s first season.

Roberto decided to communicate his list of problems with the show in a letter addressed to Netflix.

“In the first season of Narcos, there were mistakes, lies and discrepancies from the real story, the story that I not only was part of making, but that I survived from,” Roberto wrote.

Roberto also asks that Netflix hold off on releasing the next season of the series until he is “given the rightful opportunity to review this material.”

The Escobar brother makes it clear that he hopes Netflix takes the time to pay him and his family a portion of the show’s profits.

“I hope you are not profiting from my show, and if you are I ask you to share some profits with us,” Roberto requested in the letter. “I may be wrong, but I do not believe you may profit on my name, my brother’s name and my family’s name and our likeness, unless you pay and get our approval.”

Netflix officials have yet to comment on the letter, which was reportedly written by Roberto in an undisclosed location in Colombia and stamped with the Escobar family seal.
