Outlander, the British-American TV series based on the time travel Outlander novel series by Diana Gabaldon, announced it will release its upcoming season 3 in September 2017. The newest season will feature the high-anticipated reunion of Claire and Jamie.
Season three is based on novelist Gabaldon’s Voyager, the third book in her best-selling Outlander book series. It will follow Claire as she travels back in time after realizing Jamie survived the Battle of Culloden. Additionally, it will see Claire’s marriage to Frank collapse after she returns pregnant with Jamie’s child.
The season kicks off with the Battle of Culloden; expect to see gore and violence, and the death of one major character in battle. Season 3 will comprise of 13 episodes, with the last five episodes filmed in South Africa — a stand-in for the Caribbean locations featured in the books. Audiences will be introduced to a slew of new faces, one of which is the notable Lord John Grey, portrayed by Australian actor David Berry.
The historical fiction series will premiere in September 2017 on Starz.
