Oscar Pistorius’ murder trial in Pretoria, South Africa continued on Wednesday, with the prosecution setting up the bathroom door through which he shot and killed Reeva Steenkamp.

Oscar Pistorius Murder Trial

The bathroom door is a main piece of evidence in the trial. Although the prosecution initially contended in the premeditated murder hearing that Pistorius had put on his prosthetics before shooting through the door, they now suggest he was on his stumps when he fired the bullets – and when he used the cricket bat to unlock the door, reported CNN.

"From the forensic evidence, he was on his stumps," South African police colonel J.G. Vermeulen said on the stand.

The defense is maintaining their original story, which consists of Pistorius shooting the bullets while on his stumps and then putting his prosthetic legs on before wielding the cricket bat.

Throughout the trial, the prosecution has attempted to convince Judge Thokozile Masipa that Pistorius and Steenkamp had engaged in a loud argument prior to the shooting, and that Pistorius knew his girlfriend was in the bathroom and shot through the door with the intention of killing her. Pistorious has maintained that he shot through the door, thinking there was a burglar on the other side.
