The shooting in Orlando at the gay nightclub Pulse in the early hours of Sunday morning has left 50 men and women dead, and more than 50 others injured. For those looking to offer help to the victims and their families, there are numerous options.
Money is currently being raised by multiple organizations that are pledging to disperse whatever money is donated to the victims and their loved ones.
Equality Orlando has set up a GoFundMe page for those affected by the mass shooting. Over the course of three days, the page has raised nearly $4.5 million from more than 96,000 contributors. The campaign’s current goal is to raise $6 million.
Planting Peace has launched a campaign on CrowdRise called We Stand With Pulse. The donations are to say, “I Stand with the Victims and the LGBT community.” The donations will be used for both funeral and medical costs for the victims. The campaign has raised 82% of its goal of $100,000.
The National Compassion Fund – which bills itself as “a safe, transparent way for the public to give directly to the victims of mass casualty crimes” – is accepting donations for Orlando victims.
Muslims United for Victims of the Pulse Shooting, started by American Muslims looking to help families of the victims of the massacre, is looking to “respond to evil with good.” Donations can be made through them here.
