The Grey Gardens Mansion is now for sale for $20 million.
Grey Gardens was the Hamptons home once owned by eccentric relatives of Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis, her aunt Edith “Big Edie” Bouvier Beale and her cousin, Edith “Little Edie” Beale.
The house famously fell into disrepair in the ’70s and was the subject of a documentary film in 1977. Filmmakers Albert and David Maysles showed the life of the two women in a dilapidated home, years removed from their family’s heyday.
Journalist Sally Quinn bought the mansion in 1979 and renovated it entirely. It is true to its 1930s heyday: comfortable rooms, lots of windows, no marble or gold anywhere. The old-fashioned home now has a swimming pool and a tennis court. The garden that gave the house its name remain and are more beautiful than ever.
Quinn bought the home for $220,000, but the property is selling for a lot more today.
Website TopTenRealEstateDeals has photos of the property as it looks today for sale, where it is listed for $19.95 million.
