‘Orange Is The New Black’ Star Samira Wiley & Lauren Morelli Get Married

Orange Is The New Black star Samira Wiley and writer Lauren Morelli got married on Sunday in Palm Springs.

Wiley’s parents officiated the small ceremony. The wedding was confetti-themed an designed by Beth Helmstetter, based on the couple’s wish for a non-traditional event, as well as their love for Funfetti cake.

For music, the pair chose to go poppy, with their recessional being “This Is How We Do It” by Motel Jordan and their reception entrance “Baby” by Justin Bieber.

Both brides wore outfits by Christian Siriano, and confetti fell from the ceiling during their first dance. Palm Springs is where Morelli popped the question, so it only made sense they would choose that as the background to their special day.

“I found a ring, they shipped it to me,” Morelli told Out at the time. “I was so nervous and terrified she knew it was coming, but she was so shocked that I couldn’t get her to stop crying.”

Morelli was previously married to Steve Balisone. “I realized I was gay in fall 2012, one of my first days on the set,” she wrote in an essay. “Accordingly, I was nervous about the first love scene I’d written for Alex and Piper. I loved writing it, loved watching a tenderness emerge in their relationship where passion always seemed to be the ruling principle, but by that time, I was so deep in my own self-doubt that I constantly felt like a fraud.”
