Oprah Winfrey Endorses John Fetterman Over Dr. Oz In Pennsylvania Senate Race

Oprah Winfrey refused to endorse Dr. Mehmet Oz in the Pennsylvania Senate race and instead said she supported Democratic nominee John Fetterman.

Winfrey helped launch Oz’s talk show after he appeared numerous times on her program.

Winfrey named several important midterm elections during a virtual event to encourage her fans to vote this past Thursday. She reportedly said, “If I were in Pennsylvania, I would have already cast my vote for John Fetterman, for many reasons.”

She also rattled off several progressive politicians who are either running for Senate or seeking to protect their Senate seats in traditionally-Republican states.

“If I was in Florida, I’d be supporting Val Demings. If I was in Wisconsin, it would be Mandela Barnes, in Nevada, it would be Catherine Cortez Masto,” she said.

Winfrey also named gubernatorial candidates Beto O’Rourke, running in Texas, and Stacey Abrams who is running in Georgia.

When the midterms arrive on November 8, these Senate elections could potentially tip the balance in favor of Democrats or Republicans.

Democratic control of the House of Representatives is favored to turn over to Republicans.

“If we don’t show up to vote, if we do not get fired up in this moment the people who will be in power will begin making decisions for us,” Winfrey said. “Decisions about how we care for our bodies, how we care for our kids, what books your children can read, who gets protected by the police and who gets targeted.”

Fetterman and Oz are in a very tight race right now which is seen as key to Democrats gaining a stronger foothold in the Senate. Since the former lieutenant governor has been dealing with health issues on the campaign trail, they’ve made use of several viral stunts to raise hype and support.

He suffered the stroke back in May but appeared at his first public event back in August. His debate performance was criticized by some, but he told CNN he still felt it was more important to show up.
