Oprah Winfrey Becomes First Black Female Entrepreneur On Bloomberg Billionaires Index

Oprah Winfrey has paved the way and broke records throughout her career, and now she can add one more: being the first black female entrepreneur on the Bloomberg Billionaires Index.

The Bloomberg Billionaires Index ranks the world’s 500 richest people and Winfrey came in ranking at 489, making her the first featured black female billionaire on the list. With “the Queen of All Media” being the newest addition, there are now 65 women on the list, only six of them being entrepreneurs.

Her fortune recently increased to $427 million this year due to her partnership with Weight Watchers. She joined the company in 2015 when she bought a stake and began to pitch for the brand. The company’s shares have more than doubled since she signed on.

 Winfrey’s other businesses include the ownership of her titular show, The Oprah Winfrey Show, which ran for 25 years, as well as the cable network OWN.

The mogul has also recently announced her partnership with Apple, she will start producing original content, as well as programming for the tech company.
