Omarosa Says Donald Trump Ate Paper In Her Presence, Michael Cohen Denies It

Omarosa Manigault Newman has been making a lot of headlines since she started promoting her book, Unhinged: An Insider Account of the Trump White House. The former Celebrity Apprentice star turned White House Aide, has attracted a large amount of negative press from current White House staff ever since her firing last year. One incendiary — and perhaps the most humorous — claim is that she witnessed President Trump eat a piece of paper in the Oval Office.

According to an excerpt from Unhinged that was obtained by The Washington Post, Manigault Newman said that the event occurred when she escorted Michael Cohen, Trump’s personal attorney at the time, into the Oval Office for a meeting with the President in early 2017. She claims that as Cohen was leaving the office, she caught Trump chewing up a piece of paper that the attorney had handed to him. “I saw him put a note in his mouth,” she wrote. “Since Trump was ever the germaphobe, I was shocked he appeared to be chewing and swallowing the paper. It must have been something very, very sensitive.” Cohen has since denied the claim in a tweet.

Trump retweeted Cohen and journalist Yashar Ali commented on the irony of the situation:

Several members of Trump’s staff have denied Manigault Newman’s claims and painted her as a disgruntled fired ex-employee. Kellyanne Conway told ABC’s This Week, “The first time I ever heard Omarosa suggest those awful things about this president are in this book. And I think that Omarosa unfortunately has undercut her own credibility.” White House Press Secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders said that Unhinged is “riddled with lies and false accusations.” She continued in her statement,”It’s sad that a disgruntled former White House employee is trying to profit off these false attacks, and even worse that the media would now give her a platform, after not taking her seriously when she had only positive things to say about the president during her time in the administration.”

As usual, Trump took to Twitter to air his grievances:

The tweet came shortly after Manigault Newman appeared on CBS This Morning on Tuesday, August 14, 2018. On the show, Manigault Newman released a new tape where she allegedly recorded a 2016 campaign discussion where Trump’s aides speculated how they could handle a tape where Trump had used the N-word. Trump has famously come under fire multiple times in the past for using dehumanizing language about women he disagreed with and for questioning the intelligence of African American people who speak out against him.
