Olympic gold medalist Klete Keller was indicted on seven charges related to his involvement in the Capitol Riots that occurred on Jan. 6.
He was initially charged in January for obstructing law enforcement, violent entry and disorderly conduct and entering a restricted building. On Wednesday, a Grand Jury added four more charges, including civil disorder, obstruction of an official proceeding, entering a restricted building, disorderly conduct in a restricted building and disorderly conduct in a Capitol building.
Keller is facing a maximum sentence of 30 years. However, this could be raised if it is determined that his actions led to injury.
Photos and videos on social media showed Keller at the riots. He was identifiable from his six-foot stature and Team USA jacket. Former teammates and coaches also identified him from the images.
Six people died during and in the aftermath of the riot.
Keller has not commented on his involvement in the riots or the charges he faces.
The athlete competed in three Olympic summer games and won two gold medals as a member of the 4×200-meter freestyle relay team.
