Cowboys & Aliens promises battle scenes full of sci-fi technology, but one dazzling image did not take much robot technology to create: Olivia Wilde's nearly nude body. The sexy actress appears au natural in a pivotal scene in the film — and, to the surprise of the film's creators, it was all her idea.

"I was the one who said for this to work she cannot be wearing anything … she's gotta be naked, and they were like, ''well okay…'," Wilde told The Insider. Directed by John Favreau (Iron Man) and co-starring Harrison Ford and Daniel Craig, Cowboys & Aliens is a sci-fi thriller about what happens when an alien space ship lands in the wild west of 1873 Arizona.

Wilde's nude scene in the film might be the beginning of a very popular trend, as the actress is in talks to star in Lovelace, a film about the late Linda Lovelace, the world's first mainstream porn star who appeared in the 1970's X-rated classic Deep Throat. The project, which is to be co-directed by Rob Epstein and Jeffrey Friedman, might pit James Franco opposite Wilde — but neither of the two actors have yet signed on for sure.

"It would be a tremendous honor," Wilde said at Nylon's denim issue party, before revealing that she has brushed up on her porn star history. "It's such a cool role. She was a fascinating woman — with where she came from to Deep Throat to then working with Gloria Steinem and Nora Ephron. It's really fascinating."

Next, Wilde will appear opposite Ryan Reynolds and Jason Bateman in the body-switching comedy The Change-Up, hitting theaters August 5. No nude scenes in that film have yet been reported.
