Filmmaker Oliver Stone has called out Ryan Gosling for his role as Ken in last year’s blockbuster movie Barbie.

Stone made the remarks when asked about the Mattel executive who suggested that he direct a sequel to the film.

“Ridiculous,” he said. “Ryan Gosling is wasting his time if he’s doing that s— for money. He should be doing more serious films.”

“He shouldn’t be a part of this infantilization of Hollywood. Now it’s all fantasy, fantasy, fantasy, including all the war pictures: fantasy, fantasy,” Oliver continued. “Even the Fast and Furious movies, which I used to enjoy, have become like Marvel movies. I mean, how many crashes can you see?”

Barbie generated billions of dollars last year and was nominated for several Golden Globe and Oscar awards. The movie marked a milestone in director Greta Gerwig’s career, as she had only been known to work on smaller films like Lady Bird and Little Women.

On Tuesday, Gosling earned an Oscar nomination for his role.
