Actor Oliver Hudson has posted an old video to Instagram he recorded last year while “in [the] throes of intense anxiety,” after quitting the antidepressant Lexapro. The actor wrote in the caption that he felt it was “too self indulgent” to post it when he first recorded the video last June but decided to share it months later after finding it again.
Hudson had been taking Lexapro to treat anxiety for over five-and-a-half years, and he had gone off the drug months before the June video.
“It’s been crushing, debilitating, just scary, honestly. Scary, at times. But in this moment right now, I feel good. I feel f––cking great,” the actor said about his returning anxiety, recording from a deck chair somewhere sun-drenched outside. Hudson also said that the comfort “may be fleeting, in an hour I may be back to where I was, but I’m going to just bathe in normalcy for a moment.”
Hudson admitted in the video that recording it was “impulsive” but he was met with a wave of support from people like his sister Kate Hudson, Gwyneth Paltrow, and tons of other fans supporting him and thanking him for sharing his story.
You can see Hudson on Fox currently as he stars as FBI Agent Garrett Miller in the new drama series The Cleaning Lady, which premiered in January.
