In the latest twist in an already ugly story, Russian pianist Oksana Grigorieva, 40, is asking for a significant increase in child support payments from estranged husband Mel Gibson, 54. Grigorieva is asking a judge to increase payment amounts from $5,000 a month to over $40,000 a month, according to TMZ.
In addition to Gibson’s current support for baby Lucia, 9 months, he also pays for the house where Grigorieva and the baby live in Sherman Oaks, CA. Apart from Gibson’s $5,000 a month, Grigorieva receives $2,500 from ex-husband Timothy Dalton in support for son Alexander, 13. Gibson and Grigorieva married in 2009 and separated in 2010. Grigorieva claimed shortly afterward that Gibson assaulted her in June 2010, as documented by a series of gruesome pictures. Both Grigorieva and Gibson have taken out restraining orders against each other. Gibson is currently being investigated in Florida on domestic violence allegations.
The couple’s relationship became extremely public after the now notorious set of tapes documenting Gibson’s rants emerged. In the tapes, Gibson repeatedly curses and threatens Grigorieva with violence, as well as peppering his speech with strong racial slurs and misogynistic remarks. Gibson previously rose to infamy in an DUI incident in 2006, where he was reported to have made strong anti-semitic remarks. In July, William Morris Entertainment dropped Gibson as a client, shortly after the death of former agent Ed Limato, and long after WME head Ari Emanuel publicly expressed his disapproval of Gibson’s behavior. —AMY LEE
