OK Go Stretches 4.2 Seconds Into 4 Minutes In Music Video “The One Moment”

OK Go is at it again with their fun music videos, with their new single “The One Moment,” that slows down a 4.2-second chain of events into a full length song video.

And, it’s surprisingly well thought out. They start out by playing the 4.2-second version, which looks like a mess of water balloons, paints splatter and destroyed guitars. But then they slow it down, and it all comes together. The first paint comes out to the beat of the intro, while a band member holds a picture book and rifles through it. It animates the lead singer in the pages like a flip book, singing along to the words.

The music video continues in this way, with the bass beat portrayed by exploding colorful spheres, and the piano riffs by bursting water balloons. The singer is even able to somehow make it look as if he is singing.

The end shows fountains of paint flying, as three-band members jump and fly through the paint in the air, leaving just the singer walking through covered in paint.

OK Go started experimenting with music videos in 2005 with their song “Here It Goes Again,” in which the bandmates jump from treadmill to treadmill to the beat, while playing their song. Then more recently in 2015 with “Upside Down and Inside Out,” which saw the band experience air plane simulated zero gravity.
