Ohio Teens Sentenced For Ice Bucket Trick On Autistic Classmate

Three of the Ohio teens  who dumped feces, bile, urine, cigarette butts, tobacco and spit on a 15-year-old autistic classmate during an Ice Bucket Challenge prank have been ordered to perform community service and write letters of apologies to the victim and his family. Two other teens involved were given lesser sentences due to their lesser involvement in the incident.

The victim’s attorney read a brief letter from the autistic victim in court before the teens went off for sentencing. Much of the letter could not be published because it names the teens, all of whom are still minors.

“Why would you do that to me? I trusted you guys. How dare you?” the letter read.

The case received a large amount of media coverage after the video had been uploaded, and went viral. Actor Drew Carey, an Ohio native pledged $10,000 to anyone who could lead to the identification and arrest of the group of teens involved; likewise actors Jenny McCarthy and husband Donnie Wahlberg also kicked in $10,000 each; McCarthy’s son also has autism.

The sentence was found by many to be merely a slap on the wrist, considering the charges were for disorderly conduct and assault. As everyone involved in the case is still underage, the teens involved will have their records sealed once they turn 18.
